Hygiene

As in human medical clinics, compliance with hygienic standards plays a central role at the Swift Clinic. Poor hygiene can not only damage the plumage of patients, but can also lead to the spread of germs, which in the worst case can lead to the death of patients.

Especially in peak season, when up to 150 swifts are being cared for in the clinic at the same time, this hygienic standard cannot be maintained "on the side" by the feeding helpers. Cleaning the Curver boxes as described here is a central task. But surgical instruments and feeding tweezers also need to be cleaned and sterilized; the clinic rooms need to be cleaned.
