Feeding Common Swifts is complicated and time-consuming compared with other bird species. That is why, especially at the height of the season, when the Swift Rescue Center is (over-)occupied with up to 150 birds, it is probably the most extensive task the Swift Rescue Center has to cope with. Spreading this work across as many shoulders as possible is a fresh challenge every year – and you can help.
However, you should be interested in a longer-term commitment, as it takes some time before the feeding technique and all the tricks of the trade become second nature.
Particular requirements: resistance to stress, love of animals, a gentle touch
Time required: The feeding day is divided into 7 so-called “rounds”, which are taken on by one or more feeding helpers depending on how full the centre is, and each round lasts about 2 hours. You decide yourself which rounds you can take on and on which days.
