Working for Common Swifts calls not only for a great deal of time, but also for a fair amount of driving.
The Swift Rescue Center treats patients from all over Germany and from neighbouring countries. Often the person who found the bird has no way of bringing the swift in need of help to the centre in Frankfurt/Main. This is where our network of courier drivers – which can always use more members – comes into play.
Do you often travel across Germany? Perhaps even regularly on a particular route that takes you through Frankfurt? Would you like to do something good without much effort? Then let us add you to our courier list. We will get in touch with you if a swift from your area needs to be transported to the centre. You arrange a meeting point with the finder, for example at their home or at the station you depart from, where you take charge of the swift.
Do you live in the greater Frankfurt area? A large proportion of our patients still come from the Rhine-Main region and the adjoining areas. Accordingly, we need a denser network of courier drivers to take on these short-distance transports. In this case, too, you are warmly invited to have your name added to our courier list.
To avoid any misunderstandings, please note once again that this form of help is also a voluntary activity. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Mauersegler e.V. (German Association for the Protection of Common Swifts) does not have the financial means to cover travel costs, let alone the time involved. We ask for your understanding.
