Essential for a balanced diet in human care is the regular (but not excessive!) administration of vitamins and minerals. The combination preparation "Korvimin ZVT", a powder that can be sprinkled over a portion of crickets once daily, has proven effective.
To support the physiological intestinal flora, especially for unspecific digestive disorders or after antibiotic therapy, administration of "Bene-Bac powder" is recommended, which is dusted over a portion of crickets every 1-2 days.
The homeopathic preparation "Viruvetsan" has proven effective as a drinking water additive. It supports the bodys own immune defense. 8-10 drops of "Viruvetsan" are added to a bowl of drinking water (approx. 40 ml).
According to experience so far, adequate supply of B-complex vitamins in swifts is not possible through food or feed supplements alone. Life-threatening vitamin B deficiency can occur. The hand-raised swift should therefore receive a subcutaneous injection of vitamin B complex from the veterinarian every 10-12 days.
It makes no sense to try to "compensate" for an incorrect diet by giving generous amounts of vitamin and mineral preparations. If you suddenly had to eat only chocolates, no amount of vitamin pills could maintain your health.
